Space is a key issue in any home, and the larger and more spacious your home feels the happier most of us tend to feel. The average man and woman enjoy the open, free feeling of a roomy bedroom especially, and this is a relaxing way to design the floor plan for this space. Floor plans that make a bedroom feel larger are in high demand, so consider the following tips and suggestions to make your space feel larger, taller, and more open.

Open is the first and main ingredient to a floor plan that makes a bedroom feel larger. In other words, you can make the room feel more spacious and open simply by reducing clutter, adding larger doors and windows, and finding furniture that better suits the space. Floor space makes the bedroom feel more open, and the more open floor that you can see, the more spacious the bedroom becomes to the person sleeping there.

Clutter makes the room feel small and chaotic, so by organizing you add to the floor plan and make the room feel bigger. An organized and tidy bedroom feels more spacious and large than one that is a complete disaster, so make sure that the space stays clean in order to give you more floor space to utilize for other things. Keep things picked up off of the floor as much as possible, by finding suitable storage space for all personal items, including clothing, shoes, and accessories. A clean, modern floor plan is critical, but takes some dedication to preserve. It’s also important to reduce wall clutter: A single large sun metal wall sculpture or nude metal wall decor, for example, has more impact than several smaller pieces, while eliminating visual impact.

Line of sight styles are best for floor plans if you want to make the bedroom feel bigger. You do not want to have to cross high traffic areas every time you want to get from one end of the house to the other. To avoid this common problem, make sure that the doors on either end of the high traffic space are opposite each other whenever possible, so that your line of sight goes through one doorway and into the opposite doorway automatically. For instance, if the dining room is on one side of the living room, and the bedroom is at the other end of the living room, make sure that the doorways are directly opposite so you can see from the bedroom into the dining room without obstruction. This open line of sight will make the bedroom, as well as adjacent rooms, seem larger and continuous.

Line of sight works because the more space you see, the more you feel, especially in the bedroom. If you can see a lot of space from one room to another without blockage, such as a door or wall, then chances are good that the room will feel more open and spacious. Sometimes, there is no choice but to have a door for the room, such as bathrooms and bedrooms, but avoid a closed in feeling by leaving the door open whenever possible. Archways make excellent room dividers, but an open floor plan is always the best floor plan to make a bedroom feel larger.
